What Do to if You Start to Bleed During Pregnancy?

Some women experience a small amount of bleeding, usually around about the time they’d normally have a period, and this is common in pregnancy.  You can also experience the same kind of heavy feeling that you experience just before a period occurs and that’s normal as well.

It’s nothing to be worried about if you have light bleeding or spotting as it’s due to the changes in your body. The baby is almost always going to be absolutely fine.

It is important if you get any bleeding, especially if you’ve got any stomach aches and cramping, that you do go along to see your GP to get it investigated.  Occasionally it could be due to something more serious like a miscarriage or an ectopic pregnancy.

Usually it’s absolutely fine when you’ve had any light bleeding early in the pregnancy but do always remember to go and get it checked out either with your midwife or with your GP.
