A 74-year-ᴏʟᴅ woman has become the ᴏʟᴅᴇsᴛ mum in the ᴡᴏʀʟᴅ after ɢɪᴠɪɴɢ ʙɪʀᴛʜ to ‘ʜᴇᴀʟᴛʜʏ’ ᴛᴡɪɴs via ⒾⓋⒻ. Erramatti Mangayamma has waited nearly 60 years to have chilDʀen with her 80-year-ᴏʟᴅ husband Rajarao, who is a farmer. Erramatti says she was inspired to try for a baby with her husband of 57 years after a neighbour ᴄᴏɴᴄᴇɪᴠᴇᴅ at the age of 55. She went through the ᴍᴇɴᴏᴘᴀᴜsᴇ 30 years ago, is believed to have ᴏᴠᴇʀᴛᴀᴋᴇɴ the ᴄᴜʀʀᴇɴᴛ ʀᴇᴄᴏʀᴅ ʜᴏʟᴅᴇʀ for the ᴏʟᴅᴇsᴛ new mum, previously held by Maria del Carmen Bousada de Lara.
Dᴏᴄᴛᴏʀ Umasankar said: “As she is ᴏʟᴅ, she ᴄᴀɴɴᴏᴛ ʀᴇʟᴇᴀsᴇ ᴇɢɢs so we got ᴇɢɢs from a ᴅᴏɴᴏʀ ᴀɴᴅ ᴄᴏʟʟᴇᴄᴛᴇᴅ sᴘᴇʀᴍ Fʀᴏᴍ ʜᴇʀ ʜᴜsʙᴀɴᴅ. Luckily, she ᴄᴏɴᴄᴇɪᴠᴇᴅ in the first ᴄʏᴄʟᴇ ɪᴛsᴇʟF and she was found to be ᴘʀᴇɢɴᴀɴᴛ this January. It was ᴘʀᴇᴄɪsᴇʟʏ ᴛʜɪs ᴍᴇᴛʜᴏᴅ of Fᴇʀᴛɪʟɪᴢᴀᴛɪᴏɴ that allowed Mangayamma to give birth to ᴛᴡɪɴs. It was smooth, as there were no ʜᴇᴀʟᴛʜ ᴄᴏᴍᴘʟɪᴄᴀᴛɪᴏɴs.” She remained in ʜᴏsᴘɪᴛᴀʟ being ᴍᴏɴɪᴛᴏʀᴇᴅ for the whole nine months of her ᴘʀᴇɢɴᴀɴᴄʏ. Erramatti said: “I ᴄᴀɴɴᴏᴛ express my feeling in words. These babies complete me. My six ᴅᴇᴄᴀᴅᴇ ʟᴏɴɢ wait has finally come to ᴀɴ ᴇɴᴅ. Now, ɴᴏ one call me ɪɴFᴇʀᴛɪʟᴇ ᴀɴʏᴍᴏʀᴇ. Each baby is weighing approximately 2kgs and both the babies are ʜᴇᴀʟᴛʜʏ. I don’t think she will have any ᴍᴀᴊᴏʀ ʜᴇᴀʟᴛʜ ɪssᴜᴇs in the ᴘᴏsᴛ-ᴅᴇʟɪᴠᴇʀʏ ᴘᴇʀɪᴏᴅ.”
However, she ᴄᴀɴɴᴏᴛ ʙʀᴇᴀsᴛ Fᴇᴇᴅ the babies. Erramatti was taken to ⒾⒸⓊ for ᴍᴏɴɪᴛᴏʀɪɴɢ after the ᴏᴘᴇʀᴀᴛɪᴏɴ but is ‘sᴀFᴇ ᴀɴᴅ ʜᴇᴀʟᴛʜʏ’, according to Dᴏᴄᴛᴏʀ Umasankar. Loud have been the ᴄʀɪᴛɪᴄɪsᴍs sᴜɢɢᴇsᴛɪɴɢ ᴛʜᴇ ᴍᴇᴅɪᴄᴀʟ ᴛᴇᴀᴍ ʀᴇsᴘᴏɴsɪʙʟᴇ sʜᴏᴜʟᴅ ɴᴏᴛ ʜᴀᴠᴇ ᴀʟʟᴏᴡᴇᴅ ᴀ ᴡᴏᴍᴀɴ ᴏF sᴜᴄʜ ᴀᴅᴠᴀɴᴄᴇᴅ ʏᴇᴀʀs ᴛᴏ ᴜɴᴅᴇʀɢᴏ Fᴇʀᴛɪʟɪᴢᴀᴛɪᴏɴ. Her Dᴏᴄᴛᴏʀs, however, have Fᴏᴜɢʜᴛ back. Dʀ Umashankar said: “She was referred to us by a ᴍᴇᴅɪᴄᴀʟ ʙᴏᴀʀᴅ who declared she was ʜᴇᴀʟᴛʜʏ enough to go through the ᴘʀᴏᴄᴇᴅᴜʀᴇ. To me it was just ᴀɴᴏᴛʜᴇʀ ᴄᴀsᴇ.”
