Teen Pregnancy Prevention Program

Gender Matters (Gen.M) is an innovative teen pregnancy and STI prevention program in Austin, Texas, that utilizes a unique gender transformative and gender synchronized approach to engage youth in developing healthy habits, relationships, and sexual lives.

This video explores the five-day workshop through the lens of the youth participants themselves, and confirms the need for more gender-based programming for youth to be informed and ready to live healthy and rewarding lives.

EngenderHealth launched the 5-year Gender Matters project in 2011, with support from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, and in partnership with Columbia University's Mailman School of Public Health, SafePlace, and the Travis County Summer Youth Employment Program.

Gender Matters builds on EngenderHealth's pioneering work with men across 26 countries through the Gender & Men As Partners program.
