How to Work Out While Breastfeeding?

Many mother want to know if they can work out while they're breastfeeding. Good news is you can. Now there's some research out there that suggest that high intensity workouts will increase the lactic acid in your body which will find its way into the breast milk and cause a sour taste. Some babies don't enjoy that taste. That's only some research. It's not definitive yet.

If you are worried about the sour taste or your baby is not enjoying its breastfeeding times anymore, you can switch to a more moderate intensity workout. You can also breastfeed before your workouts or pump before your workouts. You can also discard any breast milk you produce 30 minutes after your workouts.

No matter what, drink lots of fluids before, during, and after your workouts as well. The good news is is that four to five months after delivery, exercise does not seem to have an effect on the breast milk anymore. You and your baby should have a wonderful time bonding after four to five months, even if you are doing high intensity workouts. Six months after delivery, you can go for it. Work out as hard as you want. You and baby can still enjoy your breastfeeding time.
