Couple In Their 40s Who Spent Their £60,000 Welcoming Triplets

The pair were over the moon, after sᴛʀᴜɢɢʟɪɴɢto ᴄᴏɴᴄᴇɪᴠᴇ welcomed triplets. Rebecca Wooldridge, 44, and her husband, David, 49 used their life savings £60,000 their dream family a reality but say it was worth every penny.

The couple began trying for their first baby in 2006, but it would take them more than a decade and tens of thousands of pounds to become a happy family of five. After learning that Rebecca’s ᴇɢɢ ᴄᴏᴜɴᴛ ᴡᴀs ʟᴏᴡ, the couple, from Sutton Coldfield in Birmingham, spent just under £50,000 on four rounds of ⒾⓋⒻ, both in the UK and abroad, before ᴄᴏɴᴄᴇɪᴠɪɴɢ their son, Felix, now four, naturally. Rebecca and David never imagined they’d end up with triplets but after spending a total of £60k, their family is now complete after welcoming their daughters, Amelie, Maya-Albertine, and Etta, who are now 16 months old.

Rebecca said: “We waited 10 years for our dream family and after spending £60,000 it finally became a reality. I’d been told by ᴅᴏᴄᴛᴏʀs that I had ᴀ ʟᴏᴡ ᴇɢɢ ᴄᴏᴜɴᴛ but after seven years of trying ⒾⓋⒻ all over the world, I ᴇɴᴅᴇᴅ ᴜᴘ ғᴀʟʟɪɴɢ ᴘʀᴇɢɴᴀɴᴛ naturally with Felix. It then took over three years to then ғᴀʟʟ ᴘʀᴇɢɴᴀɴᴛ with the triplets in April 2016 after more ⒾⓋⒻ. I almost ᴅɪᴇᴅ when the triplets were born as one of the ᴘʟᴀᴄᴇɴᴛᴀs for our babies was ᴇxᴛʀᴇᴍᴇʟʏ ʟᴏᴡ and it ᴄᴀᴜsᴇᴅ me to ʙʟᴇᴇᴅ ʜᴇᴀᴠɪʟʏ. I had to give birth to the triplets at 29 weeks as it was the only way to sᴀᴠᴇ ᴍʏ ʟɪғᴇ. Thankfully after weeks in ʜᴏsᴘɪᴛᴀʟ both myself and the girls, Etta, Amelia, and Maya-Abertine were allowed home. Despite the emotional rollercoaster we have been through, it has all been worthwhile as we now have our dream family.”

And to their shock and delight, Rebecca ғᴇʟʟ ᴘʀᴇɢɴᴀɴᴛ with triplets. The ᴘʀᴇɢɴᴀɴᴄʏ was ɴᴏᴛ ᴡɪᴛʜᴏᴜᴛ its ʀɪsᴋs, and ᴀ ᴅᴀɴɢᴇʀᴏᴜsʟʏ ʟᴏᴡ ᴘʟᴀᴄᴇɴᴛᴀ sᴀᴡ the expectant mum ғᴏʀᴄᴇᴅ to deliver her girls at 29 weeks ᴅᴜᴇ to ᴅᴏᴄᴛᴏʀs’ ғᴇᴀʀs she might ɴᴏᴛ make it through ʟᴀʙᴏᴜʀ. The ᴘʀᴇᴍᴀᴛᴜʀᴇ babies, Amelie, Maya-Albertine and Etta, who are all ɴᴏɴ ɪᴅᴇɴᴛɪᴄᴀʟ, were born weighing 2lb6 and 2lb8 ᴇxᴘᴇʀɪᴇɴᴄᴇᴅ ʜᴇᴀʟᴛʜ ᴘʀᴏʙʟᴇᴍs, with Maya-Albertine and Etta born with ʜᴇᴀʀᴛ ᴅᴇғᴇᴄᴛs. Thankfully after weeks in ʜᴏsᴘɪᴛᴀʟ both the couple and the girls, Etta, Amelia, and Maya-Abertine were allowed home. The ɴᴏɴ-ɪᴅᴇɴᴛɪᴄᴀʟ girls are now coming on in ‘ʟᴇᴀᴘs ᴀɴᴅ ʙᴏᴜɴᴅs’ at 16 months.

Mom Rebecca said:” Having a family was the most important thing to us and we had to make sᴀᴄʀɪғɪᴄᴇs on holidays and materialistic items so we had enough money. I decided to start my blog to document our ғᴇʀᴛɪʟɪᴛʏ ᴊᴏᴜʀɴᴇʏ on the anniversary of the girls ᴅᴜᴇ date, as I wanted to help other hopeful parents who are in the same position as us. Now we’re got the triplets life has been hectic, the triplets have overcome so many ᴏʙsᴛᴀᴄʟᴇs so far and have been in and out of ʜᴏsᴘɪᴛᴀʟ with different ɪʟʟɴᴇssᴇs but we’re doing well now. Our family is definitely complete now we have the girls and I hope we’re helping to show other couples that having a family can happen, even in your 40s. Etta has started walking already and we’re hoping Amelie and Maya won’t be too much longer. They were both born with ʜᴇᴀʀᴛ ᴅᴇғᴇᴄᴛs ᴅᴜᴇ to being ᴘʀᴇᴍᴀᴛᴜʀᴇ which is why we think their ᴅᴇᴠᴇʟᴏᴘᴍᴇɴᴛ has been ᴅᴇʟᴀʏᴇᴅ. Felix loves being a big brother to his three sisters and despite needing two washing machines to cope with our family of six’s laundry, we wouldn’t change it for the world.”
