Baby Halle Spivey survived after her heart stopped for 27 minutes. After a routine check up, Autumn’s wife began to cry and told Husband Britt Spivey that their unborn child had a heart defect. They needed to go to nearby Texas Children’s hospital in Houston. There, a more detailed scan showed the gravity of the situation.

She also had a very small ᴀᴏʀᴛᴀ that ᴄᴀʀʀɪᴇᴅ ʙʟᴏᴏᴅ out to the ʙᴏᴅʏ. She would need three sᴜʀɢᴇʀɪᴇs over four years, and they would begin shortly after birth. When Halle was born, she was looked like a healthy newborn. She was taken straight to the . At 3 days old, Halle had her first open ʜᴇᴀʀᴛ sᴜʀɢᴇʀʏ. Dᴏᴄᴛᴏʀs ᴄᴀʀᴇFᴜʟʟʏ ʀᴇʙᴜɪʟᴛ the way the ʙʟᴏᴏᴅ comes out of Halle’s ʜᴇᴀʀᴛ and gets to her ʙᴏᴅʏ. They also put in a sʜᴜɴᴛ, or sᴍᴀʟʟ ᴛᴜʙᴇ, that takes some of the ʙʟᴏᴏᴅ going to the ʙᴏᴅʏ and sends it back to the ʟᴜɴɢs. Things progressed well for six weeks until ᴄᴏᴍᴘʟɪᴄᴀᴛɪᴏɴs led to an ᴇᴍᴇʀɢᴇɴᴄʏ sᴜʀɢᴇʀʏ and a ᴛᴇᴍᴘᴏʀᴀʀʏ ᴘᴀᴄᴇᴍᴀᴋᴇʀ. The second planned sᴜʀɢᴇʀʏ ʜᴀᴘᴘᴇɴᴇᴅ when she was about 4 months old and weighed 11 pounds. They also gave her a new ᴘᴀᴄᴇᴍᴀᴋᴇʀ.
Around 5 months old, she was moved to a different floor to begin preparing to go home. Mom Autumn said: “It was like having a brand new baby.” Everything looked good until four days before Halle’s ᴇxᴘᴇᴄᴛᴇᴅ ᴅɪsᴄʜᴀʀɢᴇ. She was Fᴜssʏ, not sleeping and ᴠᴏᴍɪᴛɪɴɢ. An ᴇᴄʜᴏᴄᴀʀᴅɪᴏɢʀᴀᴍ showed she was essentially in ʜᴇᴀʀᴛ Fᴀɪʟᴜʀᴇ. Dᴏᴄᴛᴏʀ was performing ᴄʜᴇsᴛ ᴄᴏᴍᴘʀᴇssɪᴏɴs. Autumn had been watching through a window, but they pulled her in the room and the Dᴏᴄᴛᴏʀ said they were going to do ᴄᴏᴍᴘʀᴇssɪᴏɴs for a little ʙɪᴛ longer. Autumn said :”Next thing I hear is. Last ᴘᴜʟsᴇ ᴄʜᴇᴄᴋ. It had been 27 minutes. I’m leaning over the bed, telling her goodbye, that I love her and how proud I am of her. After, Dᴏᴄᴛᴏʀs said Halle had a ʜᴇᴀʀᴛ ʀᴀᴛᴇ. It was 183. It’s the most overwhelming joy and sʜᴏᴄᴋ and all that rolled up into one. It feels like I’m talking about some movie. That’s not a real-life thing, but that’s what totally ʜᴀᴘᴘᴇɴᴇᴅ!”

It ᴄᴀᴜsᴇᴅ her ʙʟᴏᴏᴅ ᴠᴇssᴇʟs to ᴄᴏɴsᴛʀɪᴄᴛ and her ʟᴇɢ ᴅɪᴅɴ’ᴛ have ʙʟᴏᴏᴅ Fʟᴏᴡ for the 27 minutes she was without a ᴀ ʜᴇᴀʀᴛʙᴇᴀᴛ. Eventually, her ʟᴇɢ was ᴀᴍᴘᴜᴛᴀᴛᴇᴅ through the knee. She had to ᴜɴᴅᴇʀɢᴏ 2 more sᴜʀɢᴇʀɪᴇs until the age of 4. Although, She’s funny. She has energy. She’s spunky. She’s got spirit. The couple is hopeful Halle will ʟɪᴠᴇ a ʟᴏɴɢ and happy life, especially when they hear stories about other sᴜʀᴠɪᴠᴏʀs, like a woman who recently celebrated her 58th birthday.
