Grace, 38, from Berkshire was left ‘sʜᴏᴄᴋᴇᴅ’ after giving birth Annie weight 11lb 5oz. She said her adorable daughter Annie was estimated to weigh 8lb 13oz, but was a ʟᴏᴛ ʟᴀʀɢᴇʀ ᴛʜᴀɴ predicted. Proud mum Grace said Annie ᴀʀʀɪᴠᴇᴅ four months ago by planned C-sᴇᴄᴛɪᴏɴ at 37 weeks.
She said :” My ʙᴜᴍᴘ showed a lot sᴏᴏɴᴇʀ ᴛʜᴀɴ with my boys but I had ʟᴏsᴛ nine stone before falling ᴘʀᴇɢɴᴀɴᴛ with her. I kept wondering if it could be twins until I had my sᴄᴀɴ which confirmed there was just one in there! Previous two births had been ᴇᴍᴇʀɢᴇɴᴄʏ C-sᴇᴄᴛɪᴏɴs ᴅᴜᴇ to Fᴀɪʟᴇᴅ ɪɴᴅᴜᴄᴛɪᴏɴs, so had planned Annie’s C-sᴇᴄᴛɪᴏɴ in advance. However, two days before my ᴅᴜᴇ date, I was out walking around our neighborhood at ᴀʙᴏᴜᴛ 7am. Walking uphill toward the townhouse, I felt something ᴡᴇɪʀᴅ run down my leg. My first thought was ‘Gᴏᴏᴅ ɢʀɪᴇF! Now I’m ᴘᴇᴇɪɴɢ and I ᴄᴀɴ’t even stop it. But then I had a realization that my water had just ʙʀᴏᴋᴇɴ. My next thought was Thank Gᴏᴅ everyone is asleep and doesn’t see me walking around the neighborhood in ᴡᴇᴛ ᴘᴀɴᴛs.’
She went home and woke husband Barry up. An ᴇxᴀᴍɪɴᴀᴛɪᴏɴ ᴄᴏɴFɪʀᴍᴇᴅ that she wasn’t ready to be in ʟᴀʙᴏʀ. They were ᴡᴏʀʀɪᴇᴅ ᴀʙᴏᴜᴛ ɪɴFᴇᴄᴛɪᴏɴ so I was sent to the ʜᴏsᴘɪᴛᴀʟ for ᴘɪᴛᴏᴄɪɴ…after being ordered to start walking for a few hours. Her ʟᴀʙᴏʀ ᴅɪᴅ ɴᴏᴛ progress all day. Finally, around 10:30pm, was born Annie weight 11lb 5oz. When she came out, Grace first thought was ‘WOW! Tʜᴀᴛ ᴄᴀᴍᴇ ᴏᴜᴛᴛᴀ ᴍᴇ?! Tʜᴀᴛ ɪs ʜᴜɢᴇ!’ Grace said: “I knew she was going to be ʙɪɢ but I had ɢᴜᴇssᴇᴅ at 9lb 2ozs. She was placed in my arms and they brought the sᴄᴀʟᴇs over to weigh her next to me. I just kept laughing, I was in total sʜᴏᴄᴋ and the team who was in sᴜʀɢᴇʀʏ with me said it was the ʙɪɢɢᴇsᴛ ʙᴀʙʏ some of them had ever ᴅᴇʟɪᴠᴇʀᴇᴅ. She is also the ʙɪɢɢᴇsᴛ ʙᴀʙʏ born so far this year at the hospital.”
Grace said her partner and ʜᴏsᴘɪᴛᴀʟ sᴛᴀFF at Fʀɪᴍʟᴇʏ Pᴀʀᴋ Hᴏsᴘɪᴛᴀʟ, Sᴜʀʀᴇʏ, were both ᴀᴍᴀᴢᴇᴅ when they realised ʜᴏᴡ ᴍᴜᴄʜ Annie ᴡᴇɪɢʜᴇᴅ. She said: “We were allsᴜʀᴘʀɪsᴇᴅ when she went on the sᴄᴀʟᴇs. She’s just beautiful. My partner was ᴊᴜsᴛ ɢᴏʙsᴍᴀᴄᴋᴇᴅ, he knows growth sᴄᴀɴs ᴄᴀɴ be a ʙɪᴛ ᴏᴜᴛ sᴏ ɢᴜᴇssᴇᴅ that she’d actually be ᴀʙᴏᴜᴛ 8lb 12ozs. We both kept laughing and just looking at her. We donated all her newborn clothes to the ʜᴏsᴘɪᴛᴀʟ and as you ᴄᴀɴ see, we ᴄᴏᴜʟᴅɴ’ᴛ even do up the ᴛᴏᴘ ᴘᴏᴘᴘᴇʀ.”
Even though it ᴅɪᴅɴ’ᴛ go as planned, Annie still ᴀʀʀɪᴠᴇᴅ. Grace and daughter were happy and healthy, and she feel blessed. She so grateful that things turned out the way they did.
